Toowoomba Regional Council Library and Cultural Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Melissa Taylor said water entered the ceilings in the top floor of the Gallery at 531 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba on Friday evening.
Cr Taylor said officers were assessing the full extent of the storm damage.
“When this is known, Council can provide further information,” Cr Taylor said.
“Council regrets the inconvenience to our valuable visitors, our exhibiting artists, creative organisation partners and volunteers.
“Council’s Gallery team can be contacted during office hours, but the collection items will not be accessible for the duration of the closure.
“Our regular exhibition schedule and associated programs are continuing at the Crows Nest Gallery and Goombungee’s Rosalie Gallery.”
