Current roadworks and road closures

Current and upcoming roadworks - commencing 22 August 2026

Central district

Cranley

• Greenwattle Street (between Hogg Street and Hermitage Road): road closure will be in place from Monday 13 July until end-August to undertake stormwater infrastructure works. Detours will be in place with resident traffic excepted.

Glenvale

• Hursley Road, between Cooper Road and Corfield Drive: closed to westbound traffic from Monday, 29 June 2026 until Monday, 14 September 2026 (subject to change) for development-related infrastructure works. Eastbound traffic on this section of Hursley Road will remain open.
  A signed detour will be available for westbound traffic via north on Boundary Street, west on Carrington Road, south on Toowoomba Cecil Plains Road, and east  on Hursley Road.

Highfields

• Highfields Road and Kratzke Road intersection: road closure will be in place from Thursday 13 August until Friday 18 December to undertake intersection upgrade. Detours will be in place.

Mount Rascal

• Mount Rascal Road (between Postle Street and Iron Bark Drive): road closures will be in place from Monday 17 August until Friday 28 August between the hours of 6am to 6pm to undertake the installation of three pipe crossings. Detours will be in place with local access excepted.

Newtown

• Anzac Avenue, West Street and Russell Street intersection: road closures and traffic disruptions will occur between the hours of 6pm and 6am from Sunday 9 August until end-August to undertake upgrade to concrete footpaths, pram ramps and centre islands.

Rangeville

• Kitchener Street (between Ramsay Street and Perth Street): road closure will continue through to end of March 2027 due to culvert installation works. Detours are in place with local traffic excepted.
• Perth Street (between Kitchener Street and Mackenzie Street): road closure will continue through to end of March 2027 due to culvert installation works. Detours are in place with local traffic excepted.

Southern district

Athol

• Wyreema Athol Road: traffic disruptions may occur during grading/maintenance works.

Cambooya

• Hennessey Road (east of Perrins Road): traffic disruptions will occur from Thursday 6 August 2026 until end-August as water main construction works recommence towards the Cambooya Reservoir.

North Branch

• Clifton Road (from Leslie Bridge Road intersection to approximately 3.7km east): widening and pavement reconstruction works commences Tuesday 7 April and is expected to be completed by end-December 2026, weather permitting. Resident access excepted and through traffic will be detoured via Pittsworth-Felton Road and Toowoomba-Karara Road.

Pampas

• Fysh Road: traffic disruptions may occur during grading/maintenance works.

Wyreema

• Rosenbrger Road: traffic disruptions may occur during grading works.

Northern district

Acland

• Jondaryan Muldu Road: traffic disruptions may occur during surface correction.

Anduramba

• Hawkins Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.
• Kangaroo Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.
• Waterhole Gully Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.

Bowenville

• Irvingdale Blaxland Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.
• Irvingdale PO Rd: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.

Coalbank

• Rocky Gully Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.
• Schultz Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading

Cooyar

• East Cooyar Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.

Crows Nest

• Perseverance Dam Rd: traffic disruptions may occur during patch repair

Emu Creek

• Brothers Road: traffic disruptions may occur during pipe and headwall replacement.
• Woolshed Road: traffic disruptions may occur during repair drainage structure.

Formartin

• Carter Road: traffic disruptions may occur during pavement reconstruction and bitumen seal works. Including potential road closures.

Geham

• Kahler Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.

Groomsville

• Peters Road: traffic disruptions may occur during repair concrete culvert/pipe.

Irvingdale

• Hartwigs Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.
• Quinalow Edgefield Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.

Mount Binga

• Mount Binga Road: traffic disruptions may occur during patch repair work.

Quinalow

• Quinalow Edgefield Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.

Ravensbourne

• Purtill Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading

Thornville

• Coalbank Boundary Road: traffic disruptions may occur during heavy formation grading.
