Bus services

Bus services are provided through a combination of the Queensland Government's public transport network providers and other local operators.

The following bus services are available.

Toowoomba local bus and on demand services

Local bus service

The Toowoomba local bus service is provided by Translink, a division of the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Requesting a route change

To alter, add to or remove a road on the Translink Toowoomba bus service, please use one of the following options:


On demand service

The Translink on demand service is a great travel option which covers Rangeville and parts of East Toowoomba, for convenient access to health providers, retail hubs and the wider public transport network.

The on demand service offers:

  • more flexibility for when and where you travel
  • an increased roam zone area
  • two dedicated vehicles
  • access to seven key locations, including Toowoomba Hospital and Toowoomba Plaza.

The roam zone is an area you can be picked up and dropped off by on demand. If you're in the roam zone, on demand can pick you up near your door.

Crows Nest to Toowoomba service

Bus Queensland operate a bus service from Crows Nest to Toowoomba.

Timetable and route information

The service currently runs Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. For timetable and route information, please visit the Translink website.

Oakey community bus

The volunteer run Oakey community bus operates from Oakey to Toowoomba and return, for those without access to transport for medical visits and other requirements. The bus travels via Kingsthorpe and drops off at various locations around Toowoomba.

The bus operates on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The community bus is provided by Aussie Helpers.

Millmerran community bus

The community bus operates from Millmerran to Toowoomba with same day return, for those without access to transport for medical visits and other personal requirements. The bus travels express from Millmerran to Toowoomba and drops off at various

locations around Toowoomba.

Pittsworth to Toowoomba service

Hubbards Coaches run a bus service to and from Pittsworth and Toowoomba, on weekdays.

Long distance bus services

Greyhound Australia, Murrays Coaches and Crisps Coaches operate long distance bus services from Toowoomba, leaving from the Toowoomba bus station. Information regarding routes can be accessed directly from their websites. Major destinations include Brisbane, Chinchilla (via Dalby), St George (via Millmerran) and Warwick.

Parking options when using long distance services

The Toowoomba Bus Station on Neil St, between Chronicle Lane and Bell Street Mall, is a multi-story facility providing authorised vehicle access for bus companies and taxis on the lower floor and customer carparking for the first floor and rooftop, which can be accessed via Chronicle Lane. General vehicle access on the lower floor of the station is not permitted.

The bus station is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Short term parking (maximum 28 days)

  • Off-street parking is available at the bus station.
  • 2-minute pick up/drop off parking can be used.
  • 10-minute disabled pick up/drop off parking is available along the Neil Street frontage.
  • Short-term parking bays are available on the first floor, accessed via Chronicle Lane and the first 15 minutes is free. Pedestrian access from this carpark to platform one for long distance bus services is via a lift or stairs.

Vehicles can park for a maximum of 28 days. The customer is charged both the day rate and the night rate for a 24-hour period. Any vehicles parked in excess of 28 days may be removed/towed and stored elsewhere at the owner's expense.

Parking on Sundays is free. The customer still needs to obtain a ticket to park and place that ticket in the payment machine so it can be ratified. On exit, use the ticket as usual and exit without payment.

There are two machines for payments, both located near the lift:

  • Blue machine accepts credit card only.
  • Green machine accepts credit card or cash. The pay station can provide change up to a maximum of $15.

Disability permit holders are required to pay for parking at the Bus Interchange, as the parking machines are unable to accept disability passes.

Authorised long term parking

The authorised long term parking on the rooftop is managed by Wilson’s Parking.
