Removal and disposal of deceased animals

The removal and disposal of deceased animals can be distressing and is dealt with as safely and sensitively as possible.

Deceased animals on or beside roads and public land

When notified of a dead animal on a Council road or land, our waste services contractor will remove the animal from the public location and attempt to retrieve any personal identification/registration details. Our animal management staff will then try to contact the customer.

Report a deceased animal on a Council-controlled road

If a deceased animal is located on or beside a State Government highway (or 'main road'), contact the Department of Transport and Main Roads on 07 4639 0777.
