Community safety CCTV cameras (City Safe)

As part of our City Safe Program, we operate a CCTV system throughout the Toowoomba CBD and the Toowoomba Safe Night Precinct. The system is designed to deter, detect and respond to anti-social and illegal activity, helping to create a safer environment for the community to enjoy and feel safe.

The City Safe camera network consists of digital Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras that are owned, operated and monitored by Council. Cameras are located in public spaces including parks, public toilet areas, car parks, footpaths, roads and public access venues. The network includes fixed cameras and a fleet of relocatable cameras. Signage and plaques are installed near camera locations to notify the public and provide further information about the system.

While we are committed to supporting a safe community, we also recognise the importance of protecting individual privacy. The CCTV system operates in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 and the Right to Information Act 2009.

Cameras are monitored from a secure control room located in Toowoomba. Live images and recorded footage are shared with the Queensland Police Service to support effective policing and timely incident response.
