Pittsworth is located 40kms southwest of Toowoomba on the Gore Highway and has a population of about 3000 people. The area boasts some of Australia's richest farming land, with cotton being one of the most widespread and valuable crops. Other primary industries include poultry and egg production, grain cropping and dairy.
Pittsworth supports a large business community offering a wide range of shops, banks, professional and trade services. The town's amenities include a town hall, library, art gallery and pioneer historical village. Sporting facilities include a swimming pool, golf course and bowls club. The town has childcare centres, state and private schools. There is an award-winning aged care facility and two medical centres.
For over 100 years the agricultural show has been one of the town's major events. Held in early March, the show provides an opportunity for the community to demonstrate all that is great about living in rural Australia.

In 2015 a number of Community Growth Action Plans were developed.
Success for each community is best determined by the residents themselves, based on their aspirations, ideals and value systems. In order to better understand what these are, Council facilitated a number of meetings with community members to draw out what issues each town is facing, identify what the potential solutions and opportunities might be and determine which ones should be focussed on as a priority. These have been documented in plans for five communities which can be found under the related document section.
