We're renowned for our stunning parks and gardens, however, did you know that we have some top camping spots as well?
Here are a few options for you to explore, all offering different activities such as fishing, swimming, bushwalking or just a chance to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy country hospitality.
The Jondaryan Woolshed Caravan Park is open 365 days a year and features cottages with ensuites, rustic cottages, shearers quarters, powered and unpowered sites. Unpowered creek sites are available where you can enjoy quiet and peaceful camping experience along the Oakey Creek. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets at the park and fishing in the creek.
To book accommodation email jondaryan.woolshedaccommodation@tr.qld.gov.au or phone the Caretakers on 0461 468 251. Entrance is through gate 2 (caravan park entrance) on Evanslea Road. Stop at the Caretakers Cottage on the left for check in.
This place should be on your ‘favourites’ list. Lake Cressbrook offers many activities including boating, rowing, fishing, bushwalking, sailing, camping, kayaking and canoeing. It’s a pretty 50km drive from Toowoomba and about 15 minutes from Crows Nest.
If you’re looking for a peaceful place to escape the hustle and bustle, then Bowenville Reserve is the spot. Bowenville Reserve is located alongside Oakey Creek off the Bowenville-Norwin Road, a short 9km drive from the Warrego Highway at Bowenville.
The level camping area provides a close-to-nature experience for stays up to seven days. Have a bit of fun fishing from the shore or paddling in the waterhole.
Although the Bowenville-Norwin Road is bitumen, entry to the reserve is gravel. Areas within the reserve can become boggy after wet weather.
The Cecil Plains Rural Retreat Caravan park features 12 fully serviced sites in the centre of town giving you easy access to explore the township.
There are powered and unpowered sites, clean and modern amenities as well as grey and black water dump points.
Cecil Plains is a great country community to visit with plenty of history. Take some time to visit the Cecil Plains Homestead, the Old Station Cemetery and enjoy a meal at the Victory Hotel.
Located on the banks of the Condamine River, Yarramalong Weir is a great place for self-contained campers who love to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the bush. In good seasons it’s a great spot to get out on your boat, swim and fish. The weir is situated 30km east of Millmerran on Yarramalong Road.
There are no fees to visit or camp and the maximum stay is three days.
Please bring your drinking water and firewood from home. Dogs are allowed on a lead.
