Toowoomba Regional Council is calling for nominations from members of the community who are passionate about the Arts to join the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) advisory committee.

RADF is delivered as a partnership between the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) to promote the arts, culture and heritage in regional Queensland.

TRC Regional Arts Advisory Committee spokesperson Councillor Trevor Manteufel said RADF recognises the important role the arts play within the Toowoomba region.

“This valuable program allows council to invest and promote local arts and culture, which in turn fosters the vibrancy, creativity and inclusiveness of our whole community,” Cr Manteufel said.

“Much of what makes Toowoomba Region so vibrant and liveable is linked to our passionate artists, musicians, creators, and performers,” he said.

“RADF allows us to help people take their passion to the next level and the advisory committee’s role is to help shape our region’s arts and cultural programs and projects.

“We are looking for interested members of the community with specific skills or experience in a range of cultural fields including music, dance, performing arts, visual arts and heritage, to be part of the RADF advisory committee.

“I would encourage anyone who thinks they may be eligible to have a look at the guidelines and reach out to us if they need anything clarified. Council is enthusiastic about our support for the region’s creatives as they bring such joy to so many within our community.”

The committee will run until the end of this current term of Council in 2028 and aims to be diverse and inclusive to reflect the broader arts community.

RADF supports arts and cultural activities that:

  • Increase access to arts and cultural experiences in regional Queensland
  • grow employment and capacity building opportunities for artists and arts workers across regional Queensland
  • deliver on local arts and cultural priorities and promote the value of arts culture and heritage

Expressions of interest must be received by 5pm Thursday October 31 2024, and more information is available on the Council website.
