E-waste and electrical waste
Electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) includes household electrical appliances and electronic items such as desktop computers, monitors, mobile phones, printers, televisions, scanners and video game consoles. A more detailed list of electrical and e-waste items can be found below.
Disposal locations
Electrical and electronic waste can be dropped off for recycling at all our waste management facilities. Numerous retailers also participate in various recycling programs.
List of electrical waste items
Electrical waste items are classed as any appliance with an electric plug, but not bigger than a microwave oven. These include, but are not limited to the list below.

- Food processors, juicers, blenders, hand/stick mixers.
- Stand mixers.
- Microwave ovens.
- Benchtop compact electric/convection ovens/grills.
- Domestic coffee machines - drip filter, pod or espresso.
- Electric kettles.
- Toasters, sandwich toasters, jaffle irons, waffle irons, pie makers.
- Electric frypans, grills and woks.
- Deep fryers.
- Air fryers.
- Dehydrators.
- Electric rice cookers, steamers.
- Slow cookers.
- Electric pressure cookers.
- Bread makers.
- Hair dryers.
- Hair straighteners/curlers.
- Electric shavers.
- Hair clippers/trimmers.

- Pedestal fans.

- Portable charger/battery units for a phone or tablet.
- Power tools (240v) – handheld and benchtop.
- Power tools with or without batteries.
- Industrial benchtop tools/equipment 240v and 450v.
- Vehicle battery charger.
- Distress beacons/EPIRB’s. Prior to disposal they must be deregistered with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and have its battery disconnected according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For more information visit the AMSA website.

Items not accepted
Goods not accepted as e-waste or electrical waste
- Large household appliances larger than a microwave oven.
- Whitegoods such as cooktops, ovens, stoves, rangehoods, dishwashers, clothes dryers, washing machines, clothes dryers.
- Items with refrigerant gases, e.g. fridges, freezers, air conditioners.
- Items containing oils or other liquids, e.g. oil heaters.
- Individual lithium batteries e.g. lithium-ion, Li-ion, LIB, Li-primary. Please place these in battery recycling bins.
- Vehicle jump starters.
