Toowoomba Region Sports Precinct
The Toowoomba Region Sports Precinct (TRSP) will be located on council-owned land in Charlton next to the Toowoomba Bypass and adjacent to the Toowoomba Connection Road.
The facility will address the growing community demand for sport and recreation facilities and help attract state and national sporting events to our Region.
It will provide a mix of high-quality fields and amenities, including a district recreation park for a variety of outdoor sporting activities, while recognising and incorporating cultural and indigenous landmarks and artefacts within the site.
We intend to deliver the project across multiple stages over the next twenty years.
Master plan
We endorsed an updated Master Plan for the TRSP on 17 June 2025, reinforcing our commitment to delivering a premier, multi-sport regional facility.
The updated master plan incorporates the following updates:
- an all-weather track and field facility - competition category 3
- facility realignments for improved functionality
- the inclusion of site topography and geology into planning
- the removal of shooting and archery facilities from within the precinct (these sports will be transferred to a suitable location in collaboration with the respective shooting and archery clubs to better meet their needs)
- improved road access via two access points off Gowrie Junction Road
- the removal of on-street parking for cars in favour of safer off-street parking locations.
There has been $2.1 million allocated in the 2025/26 budget to finalise detailed design of Precinct A and Precinct B, in preparation for construction.
Estimated Construction start date: Mid-2028
Estimated Targeted completion date: 2040.
