Southern Cross Oval

This sports facility also known as Southern Cross Reserve features a turf cricket and AFL oval. Lighting is available.

Amenities upgrade

We are renewing the amenities block at Southern Cross Reserve, Heritage Oval to improve safety and accessibility. The project will deliver a modern, fit-for-purpose facility that will meet current standards and support long-term use.

The project is jointly funded with Southeast Queensland (SEQ) liveability fund.

Project overview

  • Removal of the two existing club house structures, with a new single-story structure to be built along the north-eastern side of the oval, adjacent to the carpark.
  • New carpark lighting.
  • Minor improvements to the existing carpark with the inclusion of two dedicated accessibility carparks.

Start of construction: Early-September 2026

Estimated completion: June 2027

What to expect

  • Full closure of the site to the public including access to the oval and carpark.
  • All scheduled fixtures for the 2026-27 seasons will be relocated for the duration of works.
  • Construction noise, dust and lighting from vehicles and machinery.

Traffic management

  • Due to the increase in traffic flow and heavy vehicle movements, parking along either side of driveway is not permitted.
  • Access to the carpark will be closed.
  • Vehicles parked along the driveway will be at risk of being towed.

Facilities

There is a main clubhouse featuring a canteen, meeting room with toilets and showers; with another building containing two more dressing rooms, toilets and shower.

A large terrace seating area on the eastern side provides viewing for spectators. Off street parking is available.
