Mount Basalt Reserve

This unique geological and environmental area features rare volcanic formations and a few walking tracks and lookouts with spectacular views.

If you bring your dog, please keep it on-leash.

How to get there

Mount Basalt Reserve is just 19 km south of Millmerran.

From Toowoomba, travel southwest on the Gore Highway to the town of Millmerran. From there, take the Millmerran-Inglewood Road and turn left onto Kooroongarra Road until you reach the turnoff to Mount Basalt Environmental Park.

Facilities

Parking is available at the reserve along with picnic tables. Stunning views and interesting rock formations make for great photo opportunities.

Best for: Bushwalking

Classification: Bushwalking (Grade 4)

Distance: 559m loop

Walking time: 55 minutes

Description: There is a loop track along with a summit climb. The short walk to the saddle is easy-going. Be prepared for a bit of rock-hopping as the tracks to the summit cross basalt columns of about 25 cm in diameter.
