Sandy Pottinger’s love of words and paintings will feature in a survey exhibition at Goombungee’s Rosalie Gallery from 11 November to 13 December 2026.

Searching for Time: A Survey Exhibition will provide an insight into the creative obsessions of the highly regarded Toowoomba arts identity.

Sandy said her exhibition draws on works that punctuate more than 60 years of creative endeavour.

“Although we cannot stop time, we can mark its passage by capturing moments through imagery and writing words to tell its story,” Sandy said.

The exhibition consists of several series of sequential paintings that reflect the artist’s explorations of particular subjects or themes.

The words accompanying the works are extensions of the paintings in that they offer context and background that shape the memory of a moment halted in time.

Sandy has worked as a professional photographer and was, for many years, a lecturer in the Visual Arts Department at the University of Southern Queensland where she taught history, theory, and philosophy units as well as courses in drawing, painting, and photography.

Sandy wrote the ‘Around the Gallery’ column for The Toowoomba Chronicle for 25 years and continues to be a stalwart supporter of regional arts.

The exhibition’s Artist Talk starts at 11am on Sunday, 22 November 2026.
