Toowoomba readers are invited to meet bestselling Australian rural crime author Fleur McDonald when she visits Toowoomba City Library on Thursday 29 October 2026 to launch her latest novel, The Buried.

The event will give fans the opportunity to hear from one of Australia’s most successful rural crime writers, whose Detective Angie Sullivan series continues with the fourth instalment, due for release in late October.

Ms McDonald has always had a strong affinity with the land and vast Australian outback. This bestselling author has written 28 fiction novels with more than one million book sales to her name.

A farmer, mother, advocate and survivor, Ms McDonald has overcome extraordinary challenges with resilience and determination. She worked full-time on the land, starting in an era when women were not legally recognised as farmers and could not secure a farm loan without a male guarantor.

While raising two children with disabilities, caring for her terminally ill mother-in-law and living in an isolated Atco hut without power or a toilet for seven years, she found the determinationto pursue her dream of writing.

Ms McDonald will discuss her latest release at Toowoomba City Library and will conclude the event with a book signing opportunity.

The Meet the Author event will take place on Thursday 29 October 2026 at 6pm.
