Published on 14 May 2026
The Toowoomba Photographic Society is marking its 125th anniversary with an exhibition titled, Chequered History, that will be displayed at Crows Nest Gallery from May 20 to June 21, 2026.
Established on February 18, 1901, the Toowoomba Photographic Society is one of the oldest photographic clubs in Queensland.
The Society’s 100 amateur and professional photographers capture a diverse range of photographic subjects and genres covering landscape, social documentary, nature, portraiture, architectural and creative works.
Members meet regularly and hold monthly competitions to further develop their skills and artistry.
Each month two images are selected for awards, in memory of past honoured members, namely the Alice Black Award (colour) and the Graham Burstow Award (monochrome).
Chequered History features a curated selection of awarded images and highlights the diverse talents of Toowoomba Photographic Society members.
The Gallery is hosting two Artists in Conversation events on Sunday, May 24 starting at 11am then at 1pm. Bookings are required by phoning 131 872.
