Properties at sale of arrears

Under the Local Government Act 2009 and the Local Government Regulation 2012Councils have the authority to recover overdue rates, which in some cases may include the sale of a property.

For us, this is always considered a last resort. We work closely with ratepayers to explore options, provide support and prevent the need for a property sale wherever possible.

If we proceed with selling properties due to unpaid rates, this page will be updated with all required information, including details of any upcoming auctions. Properties will be removed from auction if the outstanding rates are paid or if they are otherwise withdrawn from the sale process.

Enquiries may be directed to the Rates Collection Team on (07) 4688 6879 or email ratescollection@tr.qld.gov.au.
