Your chance to help deliver our new Planning Scheme

Want to be part of a group that shapes the future of what the Toowoomba Region will look like over the coming decades?
To help inform how the new Planning Scheme will look, community members are invited to join the Planning and Development Policy and Technical Advice Reference Group.
Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Geoff McDonald said Council was seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to become a member of the Reference Group.
“The Planning Scheme provides the strategic framework for managing population growth, housing supply, infrastructure investment and environmental resilience over the next 25 years,” he said.
“To help ensure this document takes into account the views of our community, we’re establishing this Reference Group to provide a forum for collaboration and consultation between Council Officers and planning and technical professionals within our community.
“The purpose of the group is to discuss, provide feedback, and exchange insights on matters relating to the Region’s draft Planning Scheme and Council’s planning and development functions.
“If you're a planning or development professional or have technical expertise in this field, we'd like to see your submission to be part of this Reference Group.”
Council has invited expressions of interest from local professionals with experience and qualifications in the following disciplines:
- Planning
- Engineering
- Architecture, Design or related disciplines
- Economics or related disciplines
- Environmental or related fields
- Development Industry.
Council will appoint up to seven members for a 12-month term, with the possibility of extension for a further period of up to 12 months at Council’s discretion with members to receive remuneration for meeting attendance.
To submit your Expression of Interest, visit EOI Planning and Development Policy and Technical Advice Reference Group, and complete the form by 12 January 2026.
