Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will be lighting up city landmarks to celebrate the 166th Queensland Day tomorrow and Friday night (Thursday, 5 and Friday 6 June, 2025).
Toowoomba Region Mayor Councillor Geoff McDonald said Queensland Day was an opportunity to be reminded of why our State is the best place to live.
“We are truly lucky to live in the Sunshine State, which is home to the most vibrant culture, the best attractions and the most stunning landscapes in the world,” Mayor McDonald said.
Toowoomba Region residents can observe the Toowoomba City Hall, the City Hall Annex and the Victoria Street bridge lit up in the State’s official colour of maroon to mark this year’s commemoration.
“Lighting up some of our Region’s landmarks is an easily recognisable way to show our Queensland pride,” Mayor McDonald said.
“I encourage everyone in our community to share in the fierce Queensland spirit and celebrate this wonderful day.”
“Take a moment to appreciate the beauty which is in our backyard and acknowledge the people who have been instrumental in our State’s success.”
Queensland Day is celebrated annually on 6 June, the official date the Queen signed the Letters Patent and gave her approval for the State’s independence from New South Wales back in 1859.
Over 150 years on, Queenslanders are still celebrating the State’s history by revelling in the passion, people and places that make our State great.
