Planning and Development Policy and Technical Advice Reference Group
We're establishing a Planning and Development Policy and Technical Advice Reference Group to provide a forum for collaboration and consultation between our officers and planning and technical professionals within our community.
The purpose of the group is to discuss, provide feedback, and exchange insights on matters relating to the region’s draft Planning Scheme and Council’s planning and development functions.
Purpose and functions
The reference group will facilitate discussion and provide feedback on:
- the development and refinement of the new Toowoomba Region Planning Scheme
- business improvement initiatives relevant to our planning and development functions
- our service delivery in the planning and development space.
While the reference group will contribute valuable technical and professional input, it will not replace our statutory community consultation obligations under the Planning Act 2016 and the Minister’s guidelines and rules.
Membership and selection
We invited expressions of interest from local professionals with experience and qualifications in one or more of the following disciplines:
- planning
- engineering
- architecture, design or related disciplines
- economics or related disciplines
- environmental or related fields
- development industry.
We will appoint up to seven members, with at least one representative from each of the professional categories listed above.
As part of the expression of interest process for appointing members to the reference group, we considered:
- professional qualifications and relevant experience
- experience and understanding of local and state planning processes in Queensland
- understanding of our Region's identity and character
