Cathro Park

Cathro Park has been upgraded to create part of a new link from the Railway Parklands Precinct to Queens Park and to improve connection for pedestrians and cyclists, especially between Ruthven and Neil Streets.

The park includes an amenities block, shelter, seats and tables, and extensive landscaping. Additionally, bike racks, bins, drinking fountains, new wayfinding, information and flood warning signs, and artworks have also been incorporated in the refurbishment.

History

Cathro Park is named after Mr Alexander Cathro, a former Deputy Mayor of Toowoomba and businessman who operated a fruit shop in the area in the 1900s.

The $1.9 million Cathro Park Railway Parklands Linkage Project was jointly funded by Toowoomba Regional Council and the Queensland Government’s Building Our Regions Program.
