TRC encouraging water-wise efforts in Clifton
Published on 23 April 2026
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is urging Clifton residents and businesses to be mindful of their water consumption as recent drier conditions have led to a noticeable increase in demand.
Current usage in the Clifton area has risen to approximately 250 litres per person per day, well above the target of 200 litres.
TRC portfolio spokesperson for Strategic Water Planning, Councillor Rebecca Vonhoff, said the community’s cooperation is essential in reducing consumption.
“Due to a break in a water main a few days ago which was quickly repaired before it was even reported by residents, our water network in Clifton was impacted, so we’re asking residents to also keep a close eye on their own water use,” Cr Vonhoff said.
“With demand also sitting above our target, it’s important everyone takes simple, everyday steps to reduce consumption. Small changes across many households and businesses make a meaningful difference.”
Residents and businesses are encouraged to follow established water‑saving practices to help bring usage back in line with the 200‑litre target.
