Cr Carol Taylor was re-elected to Toowoomba Regional Council for her fourth term in 2020.
Cr Taylor continues as Chair of the Eastern Downs Regional Road Group, a position she has held since 2004.
Cr Taylor has been a Councillor since 2000, serving as Mayor of the former Cambooya Shire Council from 2004-2008.
Cr Taylor has a daughter and son and three grandchildren.
Biography
Councillor Carol Taylor has served the local community for more than two decades, bringing extensive experience in regional infrastructure, and community development.
First elected to the former Cambooya Shire Council in 2000, Councillor Taylor was subsequently elected as a Councillor from 2000 to 2004, before serving as Mayor from 2004 to 2008. Following local government amalgamation, she was elected to the Toowoomba Regional Council, serving as a Councillor from 2008 to 2016, Deputy Mayor from 2016 to 2020, and continuing as a Councillor from 2020 through to 2028.
Throughout this time, Councillor Taylor has played a key leadership role across a number of important portfolios. She served as Chair of the Infrastructure Services Group from 2008 to 2024 and have been a longstanding contributor to regional and state-level transport and logistics planning. Councillor Taylor has chaired RAPTAC for its duration, currently leads the Agriculture and Logistics Working Group, and previously served as Chair of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) Roads and Transport Advisory Committee from 2012 to 2020. She continues to contribute as a committee member from 2020 to 2028.
Passionate about supporting regional growth, infrastructure development, and strong communities, Councillor Taylor brings a practical and experienced voice to Council.
Widowed, Councillor Taylor is a proud parent of two children and grandparent to three grandchildren and has recently become a great grandma. She also loves the company of her two dogs.
