Toowoomba’s Civic Precinct is set to be transformed again in 2019 into a Winter Wonderland from 21 June to 14 July. The ice skating rink on the Civic Square will be back again along with the addition of an ice slide for this year. There will be food, drinks and entertainment for the second year of the event.

The CBD will come alive again with lights to create an incredible winter event not to be missed; so pull on your winter woollies and join in the fun!

Toowoomba City Library activities

During Winter Wonderland 2019, the Toowoomba City Library will be holding a range of extra activities for the whole family.

All activities are FREE and no bookings are required.

Join us for a special Winter Wonderland Storytime session full of stories, songs and craft. Recommended for ages 2-5 years.

Step through the wardrobe into Narnia where kids can make a winter crown and participate in a 'Find the Yeti' scavenger hunt for a chance at the 'Lucky Dip Station'. Recommended for all ages.

Toowoomba Art Gallery activities

The Toowoomba Art Gallery will be hosting a range of great activities during Winter Wonderland. These special activities are listed below.

Join the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery as we bring our artworks to life through stories, songs, rhymes and art making activities. It’s where a picture really does become a thousand words. Hear the books and explore the art.

Ages: 3-5 years

Time: Tuesday 25 June, 9.30 - 10.30am

Cost: Free

Places are limited and bookings are essential. Call 131 872 to book your child’s place now.

Young people must be accompanied by a guardian.

Our Winter Art Workshops offer young people the opportunity to engage with and learn from contemporary artists.

Ages: 5 – 13

Cost: $11.00 per workshop

Time: Tuesday 9 July – Friday 12 July, 10.30am - 12.30pm

Self-made: zines and artist books

Touring from State Library Victoria,Self-made showcases original rare objects from their collection, as well as a selection of contemporary zines and artist books. Discover science fiction fanzines from the 1940s, ground-breaking 1970s punk zines, Australian underground press publications and artist books designed to circumvent commercial gallery systems.

This exhibition is presented by State Library Victoria in partnership with Sticky Institute, and supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria and the Visions regional touring program, an Australian Government program aiming to improve access to cultural material for all Australians.

 

Toowoomba Art Society / The Chronicle Junior Art Expo

Featuring the paintings and works on paper of students from preschool to Year 12, this annual exhibition highlights the creativity of young people from the Toowoomba Region. Organised
by the Toowoomba Art Society Inc. in conjunction with The Chronicle.

 

From Country: Enduring Connections

From Country: Enduring Connections features works from Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s Toowoomba City Collection that have been created by Indigenous artists. Each work in the exhibition has been chosen for the story it embodies and the maker’s connection to country. The Gallery is excited to share some recent acquisitions of significance in this show.
