Maclagan and Quinalow are neighbouring country towns situated at the foothills of the Bunya Mountains. The old Muntapa Rail Tunnel is located nearby and is now home to a colony of bent-winged bats. The area offers picnic and barbecue facilities, a viewing platform, toilet facilities and walking trails. Interpretive signage tells the story about the workers who dug the 287 metre long tunnel by hand in 1913.
Quinalow has sporting reserve, library and state school.
