The Council cab service provides affordable transport for seniors and people with a disability. Eligible users can travel from their home to their nearest major shopping centre one day a week. The cab service has been offered to allow residents to enjoy greater independence and convenience without relying on friends and family to get out and about, whether for shopping or socialising.

The service runs on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, depending on where you live. Open the blue slider below to check if you are located in an area serviced by the Council cab service and the travel day and designated drop-off points for your pick-up area. Pick-up will generally be between 9-9.30am and you should arrive at your destination between 9.15-10am. The return trip from the destination will be between 11-11.30am or 1-1.30pm.

If you are aged 60 or over, or you have a disability, and are a resident of Toowoomba Region and live within a Council cab service area, you are eligible to use the Council cab service. Users of this service willbe required to provide proof of their eligibility, by having one of the following cards:
Please note that persons in possession of a Seniors Card only, are not eligible to use this service.
From 1 February 2018 the service will only cost $2.50 per trip ($5 for a return trip). Carers (and dependents under 10-years old) can travel free of charge if travelling with you, and if advised at the time of booking.
Simply phone Black & White Cabs on 1300 811 394 and ask the operator for the trial Council cab service. The operator will assess your eligibility and advise you on your travel options. They will give you an approximate pick up time from your home and a collection time from the shopping centre (if your booking includes a return trip). You must make your booking no later than 12 noon the day before your scheduled taxi day.
If you book a taxi and then decide not to travel, please cancel the booking so someone else can have a seat. This courtesy also avoids inconvenience to fellow passengers.
If you need to bring a shopping cart or walking aid/trolley, please let the operator know when you book so there is plenty of luggage space in the vehicle. Zippered bags and green bags may be easier to manage than plastic bags and may assist in preventing your shopping from getting mixed up with other people’s bags. There is a limit of five shopping bags per person.
Please remember that pick up times are approximate and that the service may be delayed from time-to-time. Please be patient if there is a slight delay in the service.
The taxi driver will assist where they reasonably can. If you have a walker, trolley or wheelchair, please let the operator know when you book. Wheelchair accessible maxi-taxis are available if needed.
We are working in partnership with Black & White Cabs (including Garden City Cabs and Yellow Cabs) to provide subsidised share-ride taxi services. Under this arrangement, Black & White Cabs provides Council cab services to most areas in Toowoomba, Highfields, Meringandan, Cabarlah, Kingsthorpe, Gowrie Junction, Westbrook, Wyreema, Cambooya, Oakey, Crows Nest and Hampton. Pittsworth and Southbrook will be serviced under this arrangement by Pittsworth & District Taxi Services (still book using 1300 811 394).
