We've partnered with DMS Creative to offer fully subsidised expert advice to local businesses, as part of its Digital Marketing Mentoring program.

Whether you run an established business or are looking for ways to best use digital marketing the program will provide growing small and medium businesses in the Region with expert advice. The program will help navigate digital marketing and service technologies, tailored to their industry and specific business needs, and help you build a Digital Business Action Plan.

This program is aimed at well-established small and medium businesses, who are now looking to expand their customer base using digital marketing strategies and techniques, and recommendations on using digital technology for gaining efficiency in service delivery to customers. 

The program will be especially valuable to those businesses looking to expand and gain more customers from outside the Toowoomba Region.

As part of this program, you will work with a digital marketing expert mentor on topics which may include:

  • identifying pain points for your business
  • redefining your target audience
  • redefining your product delivery methods
  • matching digital resources and tools to delivery requirements
  • digital advertising
  • social media
  • CRM

Your mentor will work individually with you and your business on specific recommendations tailored to your business and customer needs, and available resources. This will increase the likelihood of your business achieving real results.

Participants must:

  • reside within the Toowoomba Region.
  • be an owner or senior manager of a small or medium business located within the Toowoomba Region.
  • be committed to attend and participate in all mentoring sessions.
  • demonstrate business need, suitability, and available resources as part of the EOI process.
  • spaces in this program will be allocated based on availability.

Mentoring as part of this program will be delivered in 4 sessions as follows:

Initial 45 minute scoping session to identify your business digital marketing needs.

  • determine opportunities to introduce business technology or implement digital marketing tactics and strategies – focused on own industry and business needs.
  • development of Digital Business Action Plan.

2 x 45 minute mentoring sessions covering topics such as:

  • defining why customers should choose your products or services.
  • digital product or service delivery.
  • considerations on selecting a website platform and review of website.
  • industry appropriate 3rd party functionality.
  • search engine optimisation basics.
  • use of social media and digital advertising platforms.
  • target market segmentation.
  • managing customer relationships through the sales and marketing lifecycle.
  • converting marketing to sales.

1 x 30 minute follow-up session

  • review of Digital Business Action Plan, and next actions.

All sessions will be delivered via video link or alternative arrangements. These sessions can be booked at times that suit you.

The expert advice from this program is fully subsidised by Toowoomba Regional Council.
However, participants will be required to use their own resources or alternative funding to implement any recommendations provided. As such, businesses seeking to engage in the program must demonstrate what resources they have allocated to implement digital solutions.

Expressions of interest close: 20 November 2020
Successful participants notified: Late November 2020
Mentoring commences: December 2020 to February 2021
Mentoring concludes: By June 2021

This includes:

  • describing their business, product, service, and customers.
  • outlining their biggest marketing challenge.
  • describing why this program and advice would be beneficial to their business
  • demonstrating what capacity they have to implement recommendations, and what resources they have allocated.
  • outlining their current use of technology in marketing their business and delivering their services.
