Susan Wellingham invites the viewer to look more closely at the natural world in her exhibition, Take a Closer Look, which is on display at Goombungee’s Rosalie Gallery from June 25 to July 27, 2025.
Susan's artwork focuses on moments of meaning and connection.
The Esk artist embraces the opportunity to pay attention, look more closely, take note, and then respond.
This response manifests into her impressionistic watercolour paintings of the local flora and fauna.
The backgrounds are kept intentionally dreamy and ethereal, where more details are applied to the main subject - creating a focus.
Susan's paintings invite the viewer to slow down, and experience some of the magic of our natural world.
This idea is also true and relatable to life while observing things around us. Through the haze and rush, one must slow down to see and marvel at the small details.
“Painting has provided me with a precious opportunity in life, to look more closely at the things around,” Susan said.
The exhibition’s Meet the Artist event will be held from 10.30am to 1pm on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
