Memorial Park

Located on the New England Highway, Cooyar Memorial Park is well-located in the town of Cooyar. The area is fenced and provides toilets, a barbecue, shaded playground area, and picnic tables under shelter.

History

This park is named in honour of Anne Monk and Melvyn Barron who lost their lives in the 1988 Cooyar flood. In February 1988, a severe thunderstorm caused significant flooding in the town of Cooyar. Several houses and buildings were washed away. More information about this including monument photos can be found at the Monument Australia website.
