East Creek Recreational Corridor 2 features an attractive pond with a water fountain at its centre and a grassed platform extending out over the pond. The park also serves as a popular lunch destination for city workers with barbecue and picnic facilities conveniently located in the middle of the park. Mothers' Memorial gardens

Mothers' Memorial Gardens are adjacent to a section of East Creek Park, on the corner of Margaret and Burstow Streets. These beautifully manicured gardens create a serene space for remembrance throughout the year and contain various war memorials, including Mothers' Memorial and Anzac Centenary Wall.

Mothers' Memorial

The 'Mothers' of Toowoomba proposed to Council that a monument should be built in the town to honour their soldier sons who died in World War One. They raised part of the money for its construction by selling bunches of Sweet Violet - now known as Toowoomba Violet and the city's floral emblem.

The Governor of Queensland Sir Matthew Nathan unveiled Mothers' Memorial on the corner of Margaret and Ruthven Streets on 28 January 1922. It was later relocated to its current position within East Creek Park in 1985.

Pathways

East Creek Park runs along East Creek and features connecting pathways that are popular with walkers and for commuting purposes.

  • Siege of Tobruk memorial
  • Women's Royal Australian Airforce memorial
  • Royal Australian Airforce memorial
  • Vietnam memorial
  • National Service memorial
  • Lone Pine memorial
  • 25th Battalion memorial.

Anzac centenary wall

The Anzac centenary wall has been designed and constructed to hold all future plaques approved to be placed in the Mothers' Memorial Garden precinct. Plaques have been located on the Boer War Gates at the Margaret Street entrance to the gardens in the past.

This area can no longer accommodate any new plaques commemorating the services of all men and women of the armed forces. By providing a location for new plaques, the Anzac centenary wall ensures that The Mothers' Memorial remains the dominant memorial in this war memorial precinct.
