First 5 Forever sessions

Discover our upcoming First 5 Forever sessions below. Sessions are held in a mix of in library branches, parks and other locations across the Region during term time.

Toowoomba Region Libraries First 5 Forever sessions are for families with children aged 0 to 5 years, supporting early literacy development and caregivers in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher. Each session presents a fun, educational and interactive way of learning words, rhymes and songs that you and your child can take home to enjoy together with the aim to making talking, reading, singing and playing together, part of your daily routine any time, any place.

Read + Play

Join the First 5 Forever team at the library to talk, read, sing and play. Our interactive sessions are for families with children 0–5 years. Sessions can include songs, rhymes, stories, play and movement.

  • Cecil Plains Library: Every second Friday of the month, 9.30 - 10am
  • Clifton Library: 5 Feb, 19 Feb, 5 March, 19 March, 2 April 2026, 10 - 10.30am
  • Crows Nest John French VC Memorial Library: Monday, 9.30 - 10am
  • Goombungee Library: Thursday, 9 - 9.30am
  • Highfields Library: Wednesday, 9.30 - 10am and Saturday, 10.30 - 11am
  • Millmerran Library: Every second Thursday of the month, 10 - 10.30am 
  • Oakey Library: Tuesday, 10 - 10.30am
  • Pittsworth Library: Wednesday, 10 - 10.30am
  • Toowoomba City Library: Monday and Wednesday, 9.30 - 10am
  • Yarraman Library: Tuesday 17 February and Tuesday 17 March, 10.15 – 10.45am

Sing + Play (0 - 2 years)

You and your baby can learn rhymes, action songs and finger plays to share together. These sessions are for families with children aged 0 to 2 years and support early literacy development and caregivers in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher. Bookings not required.

Session times

  • Toowoomba City Library: Tuesday and Thursday, 10 - 10.30am and 11 - 11.30am.

Sing + Play (0 - 5 years)

You and your young one can learn rhymes, action songs and finger plays to share together. These sessions are for families with children aged 0 to 5 years and support early literacy development and caregivers in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher. Bookings not required.

  • Highfields Library: Tuesday and Thursday, 9.30 - 10am.

Play

Children learn through play. Have fun playing and exploring with your child with music and movement, sensory play and activities that promote brain and language development. These sessions are for families with children aged 0 to 5 years, bookings not required.

Session times

  • Highfields Library: Friday, 10 - 10.30am.

  • Toowoomba City Library: Friday 13 March, 10 - 11am.

 

Talk, Read, Sing, Play in the Community

Join the First 5 Forever Community Team to talk, read, sing and play throughout the Toowoomba Region. Our interactive sessions are for families with children 0–5 years. Sessions can include song, rhymes, stories, play and movement.

Session times

  •  Queens Park, Toowoomba (near the all-ability playground off Lindsay Street): Wednesday, 10am

  •  1a Birch Court Park, Darling Heights: First Tuesday of each month, 10am

  •  Ruby Lane Flower Co, B/60 Russell St (behind Rowes Furniture Store): Thursday 26 Feb, 10am

  •  Harlaxton Hub: Thursday 12 Feb and Thursday 5 March, 10am
