Wesley Mission CEO and Superintendent, Reverend Stu Cameron, pictured, is the guest speaker for the 2026 Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast.

The 32nd community fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at Rumours International, 323 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba from 6am.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald said Rev. Cameron was a passionate speaker who had headed Wesley Mission, a large church and not-for-profit welfare organisation in New South Wales, since January 2021.

Mayor McDonald said Rev. Cameron’s accounting background combined with his pastoral experience as a Christian Minister equipped him with broad life experience and skills to address significant social challenges.

The Wesley Mission, which has operated for more than 200 years, has a team of 2300 staff and is supported by more than 4500 volunteers. In 2025, the organisation supported more than 139,000 people across services incorporating housing and accommodation, gambling and financial counselling, child and parenting support, education and training, suicide prevention, professional mental health, supporting people with disability to foster care, retirement living, home care and aged care.

Rev. Cameron previously served for 15 years as Lead Minister for Newlife Church with time spent at the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

In this role, Rev. Cameron oversaw Newlife’s community services across emergency relief, counselling, recovery and homelessness services, in addition to support for people experiencing domestic and family violence.

He was ordained as a Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church in May 2004. He served as General Secretary for the Uniting Church, South Australian Synod from 2000 to 2005 and has served on numerous Uniting Church boards and committees.

From 2012 to 2019 he served as a board member and Chair for the Global Leadership Network Australia.

Rev. Cameron was a founding member and inaugural chair of the Gold Coast Pastors’ Roundtable which, in partnership with the Gold Coast City Mayor’s office, hosted large annual events and pioneered a new city-wide domestic and family violence initiative.

He is a founding board member for Propel Network Inc. and the co-convenor of the End Street Sleeping Collaboration; a multi-agency and government collaboration formed with the aim to end street sleeping across New South Wales by 2030.

Rev. Cameron previously worked as a systems analyst for Mitsubishi Motors in Adelaide.

He is a purpose-driven entrepreneur and a collaborative leader who is passionate about advocacy and stewardship. An experienced preacher and communicator, Rev. Cameron has spoken at many churches and leadership events across Australia.

Mayor McDonald said a charity beneficiary would be announced soon.

“The Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast has the distinction of being one of the few events of its kind in Australia that is completely supported by its home businesses and organisations with proceeds delivered back to a chosen charity,” Mayor McDonald said.

“I thank all business people and volunteers for contributing to the function, which has raised more than $335,000 for more than 30 charities in our Region.”
