Three Toowoomba woodworkers, Brian Cotter, Andrew MacDonald and Michael Schoemaker, are showcasing their shared passion for crafting recycled and reclaimed timber in an exhibition titled, The Three Tenons, that will be on display at Goombungee’s Rosalie Gallery from May 20 to June 21, 2026.

The idea for the exhibition originated from the trio’s irregular but inspiring meetings at various craft events across Toowoomba.

The informal collective brings together diverse practices under a unifying commitment to sustainability, craftsmanship and collaboration.

At the heart of the exhibition is the concept of mortice and tenon joinery, which is a time-honoured woodworking technique that symbolises strength, connection and integrity.

This motif serves both as a literal feature in some of the works and as a metaphor for the collaborative spirit of the three artisans.

The Three Tenons presents a diverse range of furniture, sculptural works, and functional pieces such as bowls and boxes.

The exhibition’s Artist Talk will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 1pm.
