Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has started work on the December 2024 Flood Recovery Program.

TRC Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, said important restoration works would be completed across the Region thanks to funding from the Australian and Queensland Governments’ Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Cr Taylor said the approved funding, totalling approximately $15 million, would enable Council to repair essential community assets damaged during a declared flood event across December 2024 and January 2025.

“Major works being undertaken include a culvert replacement on McDougall Street at Cranley and pavement repair works on Carter Road at Formartin (south west of Bowenville),” Cr Taylor said.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we deliver the next stage of recovery works and ask for residents’ ongoing understanding while construction progresses.

“The December 2024 Program is being delivered by Council’s Construction and Maintenance teams, whose local on-ground knowledge and commitment to our Region will be invaluable.”

The December 2024 Program is expected to be substantially completed by the end of 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.

The works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the DRFA, reflecting a shared commitment to repairing and improving flood damaged infrastructure across the Toowoomba Region.
