Tim McMahon lives in Toowoomba with his wife and their four children.
He holds a degree in secondary education from the Queensland University of Technology and taught for 12 years before being elected to Toowoomba Regional Council in 2020.
Tim began his teaching career in Mackay before relocating to Toowoomba, specialising in legal studies and history. Throughout his professional practice, he developed a strong interest in outdoor education, student leadership, and fostering leadership qualities in young people. Having travelled to and lived in several of the world’s great cities, Tim believes the Toowoomba Region offers an exceptional lifestyle while remaining at the forefront of growth that protects and enhances the region’s unique character.
He currently serves as portfolio Councillor for Finance, Strategic Planning and Development and Parks and Invasive Species.
Tim values the region’s expansive open spaces, parklands, and bush trails. In his spare time, he is a keen fisherman, an enthusiastic (if self-described struggling) birdwatcher, a mediocre trail runner and a retired musician.
