Councillor James O'Shea is a dedicated community leader and media professional with more than two decades of experience in public service, broadcasting, and strategic communications. Now serving his third term on Toowoomba Regional Council, he provides strategic leadership across the environment and community portfolio and the corporate services portfolio, with a strong focus on sustainable growth, community wellbeing, and effective governance.

Alongside his council responsibilities, Cr James continues his passion for broadcasting as presenter at Power FM, hosting 'Racing Nation' and 'Semi Pros'. In doing so, he proudly continues his father Pat’s legacy of promoting local sport and racing, ensuring these stories remain a vibrant part of the community. His career has also included senior media roles, notably as chief of staff at WIN Television and as electorate media adviser to the Federal Member for Groom.

He is deeply committed to community engagement, serving on multiple boards and advisory committees and championing initiatives that foster inclusivity, youth participation, and regional pride. His voluntary leadership includes roles as board member of Toowoomba Together Inc, Sports Darling Downs, AFL Darling Downs Advisory Committee and Link Community Services, as well as chair of Not In Our Club. He is also proud to serve as an Ambassador for Hope Horizons Inc, supporting families affected by cancer.

Through these roles, Cr James continues to strengthen community connections and advocate for initiatives that enhance the liveability and prosperity of the Toowoomba Region.
