Medicinal cannabis venture puts down roots in Toowoomba Region

A rich farming region in southern Queensland has proved the perfect location for a Canadian company’s extensive Australian operations. Asterion is building one of the world’s biggest glasshouse projects to cultivate medicinal cannabis, with the aim of exporting up to A$2 billion worth of products annually. Wagners involved in Expo 2020 Dubai 

Queensland exporter Wagners CFT had the honour of making the flagpoles that mark the VIP entrance to the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The Toowoomba company fabricated 3 composite-fibre flagpoles that will fly Australia’s official flags: the Australian national flag, the Australian Aboriginal flag and the Torres Strait Islander flag. The collaboration evolved from TIQ Middle East introducing the Wagners CFT (Composite Fibre Technology) team to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, who is managed the Australian Pavilion. 

Qantas Group Pilot Academy

The establishment of the first regional Qantas Group Pilot Academy was a highly contested project between Australia’s regional airports, which was secured by Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport with the support of the Queensland Government. The construction of hangar, classroom and student accommodation facilities created up to 100 direct jobs over the construction period, as well as more than 300 in the broader construction sector. Mort & Co

Premier of Queensland Export Awards winner Mort & Co has completed a major expansion of its Darling Downs feedlot. Mort & Co is the largest privately-owned feedlot in Australia. Established in 1997, the business operates an integrated vertical supply chain model. This includes cattle procurement, transportation, farming, lot feeding, beef processing and marketing. Oakey Beef Exports

Established in 1956, Oakey Beef Exports in Queensland’s Darling Downs region is one of Australia’s largest beef processing plants, a strong example of an international company realising the benefits of investing in the Toowoomba region for the long term. It is a division of NH Foods Australia, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the NH Foods Group, a publicly listed Japanese company and a leader in the global delivery of a wide variety of foods including fresh meats, ham, sausages, processed foods, seafood, dairy products and health foods. Toowoomba Export Hub

Earthworks are underway for the new Regional Trade Distribution Centre (RTDC) at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, destined to become an export hub for Toowoomba and the surrounding region. The Toowoomba hub will comprise state-of-the-art cold and freezer rooms and temperature-controlled and ambient large transit areas. The new facility will be used to export premium goods including beef, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, pork and packaged nuts. 

Boomaroo Nurseries

Boomaroo Nurseries supplies vegetable seedlings and Greenlife plants to customers across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. Located just west of Toowoomba, Boomaroo Nurseries’ Southbrook expansion project signifies the emergence of a new era in Australian horticulture. Australian technology company taps into global success

Russell Mineral Equipment (RME) has been exporting its minerals processing products and services to the world for more than 30 years. Thanks to Australia’s Free Trade Agreements with China, Japan, Korea and Peru, the company is now looking to expand its international presence. Located in Toowoomba, Queensland, RME is recognised as a leading designer, manufacturer, supplier, servicer and operator of minerals processing equipment. World of weddings at Toowoomba’s Gabbinbar Homestead

An historic Toowoomba venue has become a surprise international wedding destination, attracting couples from all over the world and boosting the local economy. Gabbinbar Homestead owner Isaac Moody said the business originally targeted local couples, but the charms of the 1863 homestead quickly attracted much wider attention. 

Metiisto Chocolate wins global award
