Residents can meet a participating artist and curator who are involved with the Australian Design Centre On Tour exhibition, SIXTY: The Journal of Australian Ceramics 60th Anniversary 1962–2022, which is on display at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery until October 12, 2025
Twenty-two acclaimed Australian ceramic artists are represented in the exhibition, which is presented by Australian Design Centre (ADC) in partnership with The Australian Ceramics Association (TACA) to acknowledge this significant anniversary for the ceramics community in Australia.
As part of the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s public programming, residents are invited to attend three events to meet and hear from the exhibition curator, Lisa Cahill, CEO Australian Design Centre and participating artist and University of Southern Queensland graduate, Dan Elborne.

1.30 – 2.30pm Friday, September 19 at UniSQ – Ceramics Studio A BLOCKAre you a clay practitioner wanting an insight into working on large scale projects or a student developing your ceramic practice? Visual artist Dan Elborne will be presenting an Artist Talk as part of SIXTY that explores his large scale and longer-term projects.
Dan Elborne is a Toowoomba born visual artist based in Melbourne (Naarm). He works primarily in clay, in long-form installation-based projects and sculptural series.
Across various modes of practice, Elborne builds work on intersecting foundations of memory, time, labour and materiality. This event is free. Bookings are essential by calling 131 872. Places are limited.
SIXTY is funded with support from Visions of Australia. The Visions of Australia regional exhibition touring program supports audience access to Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on tours to regional and remote Australia.
The Artist Talk is being delivered on behalf of the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery with the kind support of the University of Southern Queensland’s School of Creative Arts.
Opening hours: Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery at 531 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba, is open Wednesday to Sunday 10.30am – 3.30pm. In September 2025, the Gallery will open from 10.30am to 3.30pm on two Mondays, September 15 and 22. Entry is free.
