Roadworks

When planning to carry out works in a road reserve you may need permission to do so. The application process allows us to ensure the works will meet our guidelines particularly in relation to traffic control and infrastructure construction standards.

 

How to apply as a residential or commercial applicant

  1. Fill in the Roads - Application to undertake work within the road reserve (PDF for print). To receive a copy of this form please call 131 872 or email traffic@tr.qld.gov.au.
    • Applications must be completed by the person/company responsible for the work site.
    • The owner's consent (closest to where the works is being carried out) is required in section 8.
    • Applications must be lodged a minimum of 10 working days prior to works commencing. 
    • Work must not commence until approval has been obtained from Council.
    • If you will be breaking the ground, contact Before You Dig Australia to ensure you don't damage underground infrastructure.

  2. Pay the relevant fee. Fees and can be found in our fees and charges online application.

 

How to apply as a utility authority or its contractor only

  1. Fill in the Roads - Application for utilities to undertake work within the road reserve (PDF for print). To receive a copy of this form please call 131 872 or email traffic@tr.qld.gov.au.
  2. Complete it fully.
  3. Attach any requested documentation and send to traffic@tr.qld.gov.au

Lodge your application at least 20 working days prior to commencement to allow for processing, notifications and document updates. The application process will not begin until a properly made application and payment has been submitted.
