We're upgrading numerous parks to service our growing communities to the meet our defined standards in our Open Space Strategy. This strategy provides a framework for protecting, enhancing and managing our open spaces.

The parks mentioned below were identified in the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) plan which has been created to ensure we efficiently cater for population and employment growth.


Carla Crescent Park, Westbrook

The upgraded local recreation park will consist of:

  • 3 or 4 activity options
  • bollard to the perimeter
  • landscaped park trees
  • water bubbler
  • bench seats
  • picnic table
  • a path to the key activity area.

A budget of $252,568 has been assigned in 2021/22.

Start date

Anticipated start between October to December 2021.

Finish date

June 2022.


Lions Park, Hodgson Vale

This district recreation park final component of upgrades will consist of improvements to vehicle and pedestrian access.

$305,000 has been assigned to this project in the 2021/22 budget.

Pioneer Park, Goombungee

This district township recreation park upgrades will consist of: 

  • 6 - 8 activity options for a range of ages
  • bollards to the perimeter
  • park shade trees
  • water bubbler
  • seats
  • picnic tables
  • barbeques
  • shade structure (natural shade preferred) over play node
  • rubbish bins
  • pathway connecting activity areas to the external path network
  • park lighting
  • bike racks
  • park signage.

A budget of $729,050 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

Anticipated start between September to December 2021.

Finish date

June 2022.

 

Jubilee Park (end of Jellicoe Street), Mount Lofty

Upgrades will be undertaken to create a local recreation park node consisting of:

  • 2 or 3 activity options
  • bollards to the road frontage
  • additional park trees
  • water bottle filler
  • bench seats
  • picnic table
  • viewing platform and stair access.

Start date

Anticipated to start between August to December 2021.

Finish date

June 2022.

 

Thiess Park, Darling Heights

The upgrades for completion of this district corridor recreation park will consist of:

  • play equipment additions
  • shade structure (natural shade preferred) over play node
  • bollards to the perimeter
  • park shade trees
  • water bubblers
  • seats
  • picnic tables
  • barbeques 
  • rubbish bins
  • pathway connecting activity areas to the external path network
  • park lighting
  • bike racks
  • park signage.

A budget of $853,489 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

Start date

Start (continue from 2020/21) upgrades July 2021.

Carla Hibberd Park, Kearneys Spring

The development of this district recreation park upgrades will consist of detailed design and preliminary works.

A budget of $250,000 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

Start July 2021.

Coronation Park, Harristown

The upgrades of this district recreation park will consist of:

  • start component of play equipment additions
  • shade structure (natural shade preferred) over play node
  • fencing to the main road frontage
  • park shade trees
  • water bottle filler
  • seats
  • picnic tables
  • barbeques
  • rubbish bins
  • shelter structures
  • pathway connecting activity areas to the external path network
  • park lighting
  • bike racks
  • park signage.

A budget of $848,000 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

A budget of $848,000 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

Lake Annand Park, South Toowoomba

The district recreation park upgrade will consist of:

  • detailed design
  • play equipment additions
  • pathways improvements
  • shelter structure and improvements
  • park furniture and other embellishment additions.

A budget of $728,000 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

Anticipated start between January to April 2022.

Finish date

June 2022.

 

East Creek linear corridor, Toowoomba

The district corridor recreation park upgrades preliminarily within JJ Leadbetter Park and Ballin Park will consist of:

  • detailed design
  • pathways improvements
  • park shade trees

A budget of $600,000 has been assigned in the 2021/22 financial year.

Anticipated start between January to April 2022.

Finish date

June 2022.

 

Queens Park, Toowoomba

In 2013 the Queens Park upgrades commenced in a series of coordinated stages. The Queens Park master plan is planned to be completed by June 2022 and cost $5.6 million as a joint initiative of the Queensland Government.
