If you see a roaming cat, you can try to contain it or use a trap to catch it.
Cats contained or trapped are to be treated humanely at all times and provided with food, water and shelter from the elements. Keep the cat calm by placing a towel or blanket over the cage.
Failure to treat a cat humanely may result in a complaint being made to the relevant authority where further action could be taken against you.

Frequently roaming animals can become a nuisance for the neighbourhood. In some cases, the owner may not be aware of the problem until they're told. If you're comfortable approaching the owner, consider discussing the issue with the owner to see if the problem can be resolved.
A neighbourhood mediation kit is available online and contains tips on how you can talk with your neighbour. It also holds information about how mediation may help you.
