Toowoomba Regional Council

Local Government Act 2009

  • Toowoomba Regional Council (“Council”) has proposed to make Administration (Amendment) Local Law (No.1) 2021.

  • Council also proposes to make Establishment or Occupation of a Temporary Home (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 1) 2021.

  • The proposed Local Law amends Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2020.

  • The proposed Subordinate Local Law amends Subordinate Local Law No. 1.3 (Establishment or Occupation of a Temporary Home) 2020.

  • The purpose and general effect of the proposed local law is to provide a legal and procedural framework for the administration, implementation and enforcement of Council’s local laws, subordinate local laws and specified regulatory powers under legislation, and provide for miscellaneous administrative matters.

  • The purpose and general effect of the proposed subordinate local laws referred to in paragraph 2 is to regulate the establishment or occupation of a temporary home.

  • No anti-competitive provisions have been identified in the proposed Administration (Amendment) Local Law (No.1) 2021.

  • No anti-competitive provisions have been identified in the proposed Establishment or Occupation of a Temporary Home (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 1) 2021.

  • Written submissions by any person in support of, or objecting to, the proposed local law referred to in paragraph 1 and/or the proposed subordinate local laws referred to in paragraph 2 are invited for a 31 day period commencing on Saturday 20 November 2021 and ending on Friday 7 January 2022 (the “consultation period”).

  • During the consultation period, copies of the proposed laws can be inspected or obtained:

    (a) from Council’s website at tr.qld.gov.au; or

    (b) by calling the Customer Contact Centre on 131 872; or

    (c) from Council’s public offices at:

  1. Submissions must be received on or before Friday 7 January 2022 stating—

    (a) the grounds of the submission; and
    (b) the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds.
