Residents are invited to have their say on the draft concept plan for Harristown’s Smithfield Park, in Toowoomba, by June 15, 2025, as part of the park’s upgrade to a District Recreation Park.

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Parks and Recreation Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Tim McMahon said the creation of a concept plan would help to guide Council’s future improvements to the park.

“The concept plan will establish a long-term vision for the park, guiding Council’s future park upgrade works and give consideration to improved or new features,” Cr McMahon said.

“Following the first round of community consultation earlier in the year, feedback has been used to inform and develop a draft concept plan.

“The draft concept plan proposes play equipment with a focus on quality play for toddlers and young children, improved picnic facilities, paths for both connectivity and physical activity, as well as sporting equipment.

“The concept plan will seek to respect the heritage area of the park by reducing infrastructure within the precinct and complementing it with additional gardens.

“The community is encouraged to share their thoughts on the draft concept plan by completing a survey on Council’s Your Say website, phoning Council or sending written feedback to Council before consultation closes on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

“It is important to remember that any future upgrade works will be dependent on funding and Council priorities”.
