Local businesses and the local tourism industry are soon going to benefit from a brand-new Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) tourism website which is set to attract new visitors to the Region.

The new ‘Visit Toowoomba Region’ website expected to go live on Friday 18 April 2025, will be a tourism one-stop-shop detailing what events are happening across the Region as well as the attractions visitors can expect to see during their stay.

Portfolio spokesperson for Community Development, Facilities and Tourism Councillor James O’Shea said the new website will also put the Toowoomba Region on the map as a must-see destination.

“This change will showcase all the wonderful things which our Region has to offer, from our historic buildings to the stunning parks and gardens, nationally acclaimed street art and bustling CBD. People will no longer have to switch to multiple tourism websites to see our vast number of attractions, now the information will be collated in one place,” Cr O’Shea said.

“I’m excited to see our tourism industry thrive as a result of this new website.”

The ‘Visit Toowoomba Region’ refreshed website could also be an important marketing tool for local businesses and tourism professionals.

“The new website will make it easier for local businesses, tourism professionals and community groups to market their upcoming events which can increase their exposure and potentially grow their market. This is an exciting development which will have positive impacts on our local economy,” Cr O’Shea said.

The new ‘Visit Toowoomba Region’ website will combine and replace the current Visit Toowoomba Region and TRC Events Register websites to provide an easier, user-friendly experience which will boost engagement.

Local businesses and community groups will now upload their events onto the Australian Tourism Data Website (ATDW) which will seamlessly update the information found on the new ‘Visit Toowoomba Region’ website, replacing the former TRC Events Register.

With assistance provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), TRC and Queensland Country Tourism (QCT) are hosting a series of free workshops to assist interested parties in understanding how to use the ATDW and how to maximise the benefits of their listings on the new ‘Visit Toowoomba Region’ website.

“I encourage people to take advantage of this great opportunity. Anyone who is interested in advertising their events on the new tourism website should attend these workshops, they are a free tool which can have a significant, lasting impact on businesses,” Cr O’Shea said.
