Councillor Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for Councillors made by the Minister for Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs sets out the standards of behaviour for Councillors in performing their functions as Councillors under the Local Government Act 2009. The current Code of Conduct for Councillors can be accessed on the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works website.

 

Meeting conduct

Council adopted the Best practice standing orders for local government and standing committee meetings at its Ordinary Meeting of Council on 16 April 2024. It incorporates meeting conduct and model meeting procedures that must be adhered to under the Local Government Act 2009.

 

Councillor Conduct Register

Chapter 5A Part 6 Division 1 of the Local Government Act 2009 sets the rules for a Councillor Conduct Register. The complaints received since April 2016 are recorded in the Councillor Conduct Register.
