Megan O’Hara Sullivan was first elected to Toowoomba Regional Council in 2016.

Responsibilities at Council

Megan spent her early years in Tara where her parents farmed and additionally her mother worked as a primary school teacher. She and her husband Dean moved to the Darling Downs in 2004 and raised their five sons at their family home in Greenmount.

Megan graduated from the Queensland University of Technology as an optometrist in 1987. For 11 years prior to being elected to Council in 2016, she owned and operated a practice at Pittsworth.

Megan started her career in local government at the Clifton Shire Council in 2005. She served there until the Shire was amalgamated into the Toowoomba Regional Council in 2008.

Currently Megan is the Chair of the Planning and Development Portfolio. Her committee work at Council involves;

  • Chair Environment Advisory Committee
  • Chair Heritage Advisory Committee
  • Member Spring Bluff Railway Station Trust Advisory Committee
  • Member Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee
  • Member Multicultural Advisory Committee.

Megan is an active member of the community in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs and currently serves as the chair of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation Research Grants Committee and is a School Council Member of Toowoomba Anglican School.

Megan’s hobbies include, gardening, bushwalking with family and restoring their 126 year old home.
