Sewer man hole

In the 2019/20 budget, an allocation of $2.18 million has been assigned to region-wide sewer and maintenance hole rehabilitation and replacement works.

Sewers and maintenance holes are subject to gas and chemical attack and suffer damage from ground movement and tree roots. Damage can affect the structural capacity of the infrastructure as well as allowing the ingress of stormwater and groundwater infiltration. Exfiltration of wastewater from cracked pipes and overflows from maintenance holes may also have the potential to cause environmental harm.

This budget allocation is to continue annual programs to undertake works to maintain the sewerage network through techniques such as sewer relining and replacement, and maintenance hole replacement, protective coating and structural lining.
