The $20 million Kingsthorpe and Gowrie Junction sewerage project will be completed this year with an allocation of $0.45 million. Project works have been in progress for 3 years to provide reticulated wastewater networks within Kingsthorpe (520 house connections) and Gowrie Junction (200 house connections). The new network replaces septic tank and household wastewater treatment systems on small lots (under 2,500 m²) for public health benefits and to support growth.
Works to be undertaken in 2017/18 to complete the project include the completion of house drain connections in Kingsthorpe, and the construction and commissioning of the Jeude Street sewage pump station, gravity connection and rising main.
