Boundary St connection road (Second Range Crossing)

Boundary St works

The upgrade of Boundary Street will serve as a connection to help improve traffic flow to-and-from the Second Range Crossing and the Warrego Highway. It will provide lasting economic and social benefits for the Toowoomba community and help meet the future transport needs of the city. The Boundary Street upgrade will improve access for heavy vehicles and freight transport to industrial areas on Toowoomba’s western outskirts.

Council has allocated $50.5million over four years for both Mort and Boundary Street projects to ensure the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing integrates with our local road network.

If you are affected by this work - thanks so much for patience and co-operation! We are seeking to minimise disruptions where possible.

Start date

June 2016.

Target completion date

Late 2018.

Construction will be performed in stages over the next three years:

  1. Connection to the TSRC (north of Ganzer Road-Hermitage Road to the TSRC) and the unformed section between Pedersen and Bedwell Streets in June 2016.
  2. The remaining sections from Bridge Street to Pedersen Street and Bedwell Street to Ganzer Road-Hermitage Road.

Current stage

Work is progressing well on the section between Pedersen Street and Bridge Street (the Warrego Highway). This section of Boundary Street will feature four lanes up to Havilland Street, improved drainage and landscaping and a new lane configuration at the Boundary Street/Bridge Street intersection.

Work is also under way to upgrade the section from Bedwell Street to the intersection of Boundary Street-Hermitage Road-Ganzer Road.

Completed sections

Two sections of the Boundary Street Upgrade Project have already been completed, with Council constructing a new section of roadway from Pedersen Street to Bedwell Street and a new Boundary Street alignment north of Hermitage Road-Ganzer Road to connect to the TSRC.

The new sections of Boundary Street have sealed roadways, improved drainage, road lighting and landscaping.

Related projects

There will also be connections to the TSRC at Charlton and Mort Street.
