Highfields library

Inside Highfields library

The Highfields Library Project is an initiative to construct a library, customer service centre and community meeting facility in Highfields.

The new facility will replace the existing temporary library which supports around 52,600 visitors each year.

It will be located on the corner of Balmoral Street north of O’Brien Road in the Highfields Cultural Precinct. The location will offer safe pedestrian connections between other community facilities in the precinct including the Highfields Cultural Centre and Highfields Fitness and Recreation Centre. In addition the location is adjacent to the Charles and Motee Rogers Bushland Reserve which provides an opportunity for the facility’s design to embrace the unique natural setting, e.g. through outdoor reading areas.

The community will have an opportunity to help shape the design of the new facility in 2019. To register your interest in the upcoming consultation, please register online or contact Council on 131 872 or yoursay@tr.qld.gov.au
