A funeral director makes arrangements with council's cemetery staff to use a new interment site, or to re-use an existing site. Once an application has been received from the funeral director, council will issue an Interment Permit. Council keeps records of the site number, name of deceased, age of deceased etc. Our cemetery groundspersons arrange for the digging of the grave and where possible, for facilities to be available at the funeral service such as grave lowering device, temporary shelter, chairs etc. Your funeral director can organise a celebrant or other religious services. Council can also provide a quotation for the supply and installation of a memorial plaque.
